To support the Community Arts Partnership Institute (CAP), a group of universities of the arts that have built learning communities where university faculty and students collaborate with local artists, cultural workers and community organizations to exchange ideas, develop curricula and document methods for effective community engagement. This project will document and publish lessons learned and successful practices that have been implemented in the six participating communities. Findings will be broadly disseminated in a hard copy publication, on the web, and through published articles. They also will be used as teaching tools for building these and similar arts and community-building programs at other universities.
