Presidential Authority Grant
To support the performance of Undesirable Elements Project-Children of War, an original theatre work based on the oral histories of diverse young people who have experienced war, civil turmoil and/or domestic trauma. This project is one in a series works by artist Ping Chong called, Undesirable Elements, that explore the effect of history, culture and ethnicity on the lives of individuals in a community. The participants range in age from 12-19. They are from El Salvador, Somalia, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and Kurdistan. An excerpt of the performance, Children of War, will take place at the Nathan Cummings Foundation on Thursday, June 26, 2003 as a public program of the exhibition of the same title.
