To support the Theatre Communications Group's White Oak Theatre Gathering which will enhance theatrical diversity at a time when theatres of color across the nation are at risk; and its Biennial Conference which will include speakers and sessions that address social justice issues. At the White Oak Theatre Gathering, the Theatre Communications Group (TCG) will capture and quantify the current condition of theatres of color; reach a consensus regarding the priority issues confronting this community and design programs that specifically address these issues. The work will include; convening representatives of 20 theatres and documenting their challenges; distributing the findings along with a survey to other similarly situated theatres, creating a steering committee; and advancing this discussion at its national conference. Concurrently, at its Biennial Conference TCG will design and convene its members to discuss, Courage, Creativity and Change. Issues of social justice will be addressed in the conference plenary sessions, breakout interactive workshops and master classes. TCG will publish an article describing some of the outcomes of the conference in American Theatre Magazine, and information relating to the conference will be available on the TCG website.
