To support Empowering Creators in the Digital Age: Making Copyright and Technology Work for Artists project, to address the impact of digital technologies and copyright policies on creativity. Public Knowledge is a public interest organization in Washington, DC that leads the field in examining issues affecting the "information commons," cultural spaces and information resources by 1) providing diverse cultural communities with tools to protect their rights and opportunities to participate actively in copyright and technology policy debates; 2) partnering with the cultural community to ensure that copyright and technology policies promote the interests of creators and the public; and 3) working with the community to develop strategies for new constructs in public policies and private initiatives that promote free speech and creativity. Public Knowledge will achieve this by educating the cultural sector with discipline-specific materials, on-line resources, a speakers' bureau and stories that demonstrate how the current copyright regime limits creativity; by connecting the cultural sector with activists and innovators in copyright and technology policy; and by making an "Open Source" on-line organizing tool available for free to the sector.
