Presidential Authority Grant For general support for the creation of high quality independent media and the development of current and future media makers. The Bay Area Video Coalition, Inc. (BAVC) is a media service organization that trains representatives of community-based organizations, supports the work of independent media makers and disseminates media that affirms the work of community-based non-profit institutions. BAVC has supported more than 10,000 non-commercial media projects, trained over 30,000 students using the most current media tools and created more than 350 public service announcements, videos, DVD's and websites for other nonprofit organizations at low or no cost. BAVC has historically supported contemporary media makers who are engaged with communities and are sensitive to social justice and corporate accountability issues. BAVC will provide socially committed media makers with access to state-of-the-art equipment and technical assistance; produce media for other non-profits; provide industry-certified workshops; preserve significant works; and develop interactive training materials.
