Columbia College
To support Building the Field: The Next Generation Arts Leadership Project, a professional training program that will produce a new generation of youth arts leaders, give voice to youth in marginalized communities and promote social justice through the arts. Columbia College's Office of Community Arts Partnerships (OCAP) serves as a broker of reciprocal alliances between students, faculty and community-based organizations. The Partnerships' work includes Urban Missions, a partnership that includes seven community-based arts organizations; a College/Community Advisory Committee that is developing a Master's Degree program in Arts in Youth and Community Development; and a Next Generation Project that is an arts and leadership training program administered cooperatively with community partners. NCF supported the planning and/or implementation of these programs in 2002-2003. In 2003-2004 OCAP will implement the new Master's degree program, recruit for and enroll the first class and provide placements for them at community-based institutions; launch a symposium series, document the work with publications and evaluate the success of the program by following a specific plan that will be determined by an Evaluation Committee that includes the Program Director, faculty liaisons, the Executive Director of OCAP, symposium leaders, members of the College/Community Advisory Committee as well as an outside evaluator. |
