Sacred Land Film Project, an initiative that seeks to stimulate dialogue between native people, public workers, corporate officials, environmentalists, outdoor recreationists and journalists around issues pertaining to the protection of the lands that we all share. The Earth Island Institute (EII) uses journalism, organizing and activism to rekindle reverence for and to protect sacred lands and diverse spiritual practices. The documentary, "In the Light of Reverence" has been the catalyst for the development of tours across the nation, educational curriculum, a web page and training opportunities for park workers. During 2002-2003, the Earth Island Institute developed curriculum, a teachers guide, and a reader; convened forum and screenings and developed a more informative website. EII also hired experienced consultants and developed a corporate accountability plan, and in doing so increased the number of tribal allies working with them and successfully established connections with other environmental activists, spiritual leaders and land rights advocates. In 2004 EII will continue to screen the film and provide speakers to different constituencies in the implementation of its public education campaign; further upgrade its website; implement its Corporate Responsibility for the Protection of Sacred Land's initiative; develop children's books; gather stakeholders at a Sacred Lands conference; and launch a youth outreach campaign.
