To support the Filtration Plant Advocacy project to prevent the construction of a water filtration plant in New York City's Van Cortland Park by educating community groups, local residents, and state and city agencies about the potential negative effects of such a plant. The Friends of Van Cortland Park will collaborate with local organizations such as the Sierra Club of New York City and the Northwest Bronx Community Clergy Coalition to work with city agencies and local officials to encourage them to adhere to zoning and park alienation laws and find alternative locations for the plant.
