For general support to promote an equitable minimum standard of parks and recreation services for all New Yorkers through citywide advocacy, community organizing and public education. New Yorkers for Parks aims to narrow the gap in the delivery of services and programming in various communities by raising awareness about the importance of parks as a vital municipal service and the positive impact of well-maintained parks on the lives of city residents and the city's economic vitality; forming strategic partnerships with the city's elected officials; serving as an independent watchdog for the Parks Department; and researching and endorsing best funding management and programming practices and facilitating a community-driven parks planning process.
