Insect Discovery Lab |

To support the Insect Discovery Lab, a project that provides a positive introduction to science for children at the elementary school level and improves science training and enhances science education for teachers. This grant will enable the Lab to train teachers to be effective proponents for science education that integrates insects, ecosystems and conservation biology with inquiry-based activities; use live insect "ambassadors" to teach about the wonders of insect and arthropod diversity; use the Lab's BugMobile to bring nature discovery directly to elementary and middle school students; provide a nine-month internship for a college student that will be trained on the husbandry, culture and care of insects which will prepare her with job-related skills; and provide free insect fact sheets, suggested classroom activities highlighting insects and free conservation resource guides.
