Campaign for Family Farms and the Environment

Program Contribution
Environment Program, $225,000
Interprogram Initiatives for Social and Economic Justice, $25,000

To support the Campaign for Family Farms and the Environment (CFFE), a coalition of state-level family farm organizations that seeks to establish the direct accountability of major agribusiness corporations for the environmental, economic, and social harm they create through their policies and practices. CFFE members will publicly articulate an alternative to the current factory farm system, and further build the countervailing force necessary to achieve environmental protection and economic improvement for farm and rural communities in member states. CFFE will organize in communities to address the problems associated with specific factory farms; generate analysis, action, and publicity to widely expose corporate abuses and the need for accountability; and communicate with policymakers, potential organizational allies, and the public about the problem of factory farms and corporate control of agriculture, and recommend solutions.
