Redefining Progress
For general support for policy research, constituency building, and communication tools for a just transition to a clean energy economy for workers, communities, and especially the poor. Redefining Progress (RP) is a public policy research and development organization which works with a broad array of partners on four core programs: 1) the Environmental Justice and Climate Change Program (EJCC) which includes participation with labor and environmental groups in the national “Blue-Green Working Group”; 2) the Common Assets Program to elevate the concept of public ownership of common assets like the sky and the broadcast spectrum; 3) the Accurate Prices Program which provides research on the public wealth appropriated when companies use and pollute common assets; and 4) the Sustainability Program, which measures the real state of the economy, of social justice, of health and of the environment, focusing primarily on the Ecological Footprint, a well-established popular measure of sustainability, and the Genuine Progress Indicator, an alternative to the Gross National Product. All of RP's work integrates sophisticated communications strategies and capacity building. This grant also satisfies: Environment Program: Objective I, Strategies 1 & 2, and Objective II, Strategies 1 & 2 Interprogram Initiatives for Social and Economic Justice: Objectives I & II |
