To support the Campaign for Clean Energy and Responsible Development to ensure that governments and corporations are held accountable for the environmental and health impacts of fossil fuel energy development and to promote renewable energy and efficiency. The initiative seeks changes in public policies in order to prevent the widespread environmental and health problems anticipated from current plans for the rapid acceleration of oil, gas and coal development in the West. The organizing focus will be on farmers, ranchers, rural homeowners, health care professionals and local policy makers in the seven Western States in which WORC and its network operates. Through grassroots organizing and increasingly sophisticated use of local, regional and national news media, WORC is building broad-based alliances and changing the climate of opinion in which public policy is debated.
