To support the SPIN Project and AlterNet.org to expand public debate and effectively communicate the vision and values of alternatives to corporate controlled media and corporate dominated public discourse. Independent Media Institute (IMI) will continue and expand the SPIN Project's work with NCF grantees, providing media trainings to increase the communications capacity of grassroots and issues groups. Millions of readers will be reached through IMI's AlterNet.org with information about key issues, including fairness and economic policy, access to health care, rights and liberties, and environmental sustainability. IMI will also participate in a revitalized media reform movement to challenge the increasing concentration of media ownership in the hands of a few large corporations.
