Earth Day Network, Inc.
Presidential Authority Grant To support Changing the Frame: Designing a Strategy for a New Urban America, a planning process by the Earth Day Network (EDN) and its partners in the national “Campaign for Communities” initiative. EDN will be working with the NAACP Voter Fund, Project Vote, and Southwest Voter and Education Fund to educate and energize inner-city communities and youth to become civically engaged. Before that work begins in earnest, these partners want to take time, step back and develop a conceptual, positive framework to unite the interests of youth and communities of color with each other and the nation as a whole. The partners will engage the Rockridge Institute and other experts to develop an organizing frame that addresses the imbalance of economic and political power that is undermining the prospects and well-being of young people and minority communities. The goal of the planning process is to create a plan to broaden and strengthen support for public investment in community health, schools, jobs, mass transit, urban greening, toxic clean-up, and other policy initiatives that would revitalize cities and promote sustainable community development. This grant also satisfies: Environment Program: Objective I, Strategy 2, and Objective II, Strategy 1 |
