Labor Research Pilot Project

Presidential Authority Grant To support the Labor Research Pilot Project to learn about and identify common characteristics of households that strongly support environmental protection, job creation and worker rights. The League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCVEF) works to educate Americans about environmental issues and to build a majority constituency for the environment. LCVEF will continue the conversation that has already begun on the national level between environment and labor, and conduct message and demographic research that can be used by both sets of partners to identify and engage supporters for both constituencies in the coming year and over the long term. LCVEF will partner with the Institute for America’s Future, the Apollo Alliance, Sierra Club, and the National Environmental Trust to ensure that the research is complimentary and useful to the larger community, and to create messaging strategies for environmentalists to effectively communicate with union households. This effort, in turn, forms part of a longer-term effort to strengthen alliances at the national and state level between the environmental and labor movements.
