Communications Consortium Media Center
To support the Strategic Communications and Advocacy Campaign to Improve the Lives of Workers in Low-Wage Jobs project. The goal of the project is to promote policy change that will ensure that low wage workers have health care and other basic benefits, a safe work environment, and a liveable wage. The project will accomplish this goal by engaging national advocacy organizations in a communications effort with two objectives. It will change the public's view of the issue of low-wage work from a problem centered around individual workers to the need for a national economy that benefits all hardworking men and women. It will enable the public to become informed participants in the public debate on the issue. Key to the project's success will be bringing together community, faith-based, labor, civil rights and other groups concerned about the issues affecting low-wage workers to develop three to four overarching messages that will be promoted consistently. The grant will be paid as follows: $50,000 when the grant agreement is signed and $75,000 on a three to one match if phase one of the project is completed successfully by November 30, 2003. This grant also satisfies: Health Program: Objective I, Strategy 1, and Objective II, Strategy 1Interprogram Initiatives for Social and Economic Justice: Objective I & II Jewish Life and Values: Goal I, Objective 4 |
