For membership and general support of the Association of Black Foundation Executives (ABFE), a membership organization whose mission is to promote responsive and effective philanthropy in Black communities. ABFE's major activities include identifying and working with grantmakers to increase the number of grants that address African American issues/concerns; monitoring grantmaking patterns with particular focus towards grants of interest to African Americans and encouraging more research on this topic; assisting members to improve their effectiveness as grantmakers and professionals; coordinating local meetings of African American grantmakers for networking purposes; conducting an annual conference for members and other grantmakers that draws attention to issues of interest to African Americans; and producing several publications annually which include the ABFE Newsletter and essays from the Annual Program and Lecture Series.
