Security and Civil Liberties Task Force
For renewed support of the Securities and Civil Liberties Task Force project. The ACLU's Arab, Muslim and South Asian Advocate will build on earlier work to conduct public education and outreach to vulnerable communities whose civil liberties have been affected since September 11th. Through this program, the ACLU plans to conduct and promote speaking engagements on the current threat to civil liberties; provide "know your rights" information in multiple languages; assist those who are required to register with the INS; and reach out to the media about timely issues affecting Arabs, Muslims, South Asians, immigrants and others. These efforts are designed to ensure that those affected by new and ever-changing government policies and procedures are aware of their rights and liberties. This project is local, regional, and national in scope and the ACLU will work with and through its network of 50 affiliates to accomplish these goals.
