To support a Corporate Governance Summit for US and non-US institutional shareholders who are concerned about corporate governance and are active in encouraging reforms. The Summit is being organized by Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), a $30 billion pension fund in the UK, as part of the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors' activities on governance and proxy voting. Participants will include 20-25 representatives of major US, UK, Norwegian, Canadian and Australian institutional investors. The format will be interactive workshops focusing on specific issues of corporate governance such as board structure and executive compensation. The objectives of the Summit will be: 1) to develop an understanding of the current best practices of activist UK and US shareholders and the differences between them, 2) to identify areas of agreement on corporate governance issues, and 3) to develop closer collaboration between the US and non-US investor communities. After the Summit USS will prepare a final report on best practices for use by participants and will aim to disseminate it to other institutional investors, to shareholder representative groups and to journalists covering the topic.
