Unite for Dignity
The goal of this project is to improve the quality of life,
especially healthcare, in the immigrant communities of Miami,
Florida. It will design and implement the Famn Voyan (Women
on the Move) internship program, a leadership development pipeline
that will provide grassroots, immigrant leaders with the information
and community outreach skills they need to organize their communities
in support of an improved quality of life, with emphasis on
access to quality healthcare. At least thirty-two Famn Voyan
interns will enter the program during its first year. In addition,
it will launch a Fanm Voyan radio program in Spanish, Kreyol
and English in order to do outreach and education in immigrant
communities on healthcare and immigrant rights issues, as well
as develop the interns' public speaking and message building
skills.
