We are thrilled to announce we are accepting applications for the fifth cycle of the Nathan Cummings Foundation Fellowship, which awards three individuals with up to $150,000 and 18-months to turn their inspired idea into reality. Applications are open through December 14, 2018.
NCF Fellows are disruptors with bold ideas who represent the heart of our mission to create a more just, vibrant, sustainable and democratic society. We’re looking for changemakers from across the United States who share our commitment to finding solutions to the two most challenging problems of our time – the climate crisis and growing inequality – and who aim to transform the systems and mindsets that hinder progress toward a more sustainable and equitable future for all people, particularly women and people of color.
Our fellowship is about giving movement builders, disruptors, and system thinkers the support and space to make the ‘impossible’ possible. We want to offer those who see the injustices that come from unchecked climate change and growing inequality the opportunity to act in bold and unexpected ways. Justice needs audacious champions. Our fellowship aims to galvanize more to the cause.
Philanthropy provides a powerful space to incubate new ideas, and we’ve found that real breakthroughs occur when creative, strategic problem-solvers have the support and space to take risks that can pay off big for advancing social change. Our current Fellows are engaged in groundbreaking work that empowers communities, strengthens civic engagement and bridges across divides. Francisca Porchas Coronado is building healing and restoration for LatinX communities through Healing in Resistance. Anna Claussen is engaging rural communities on climate change through national Voices for Rural Resilience. Jasiri X is training artists to become advocates for social justice through the 1Hood Artivist Academy. Our Fellowship program offers them the resources and networks they need to scale the impact of their ideas.
We hope you’ll share the Fellowship application announcement broadly with your networks, and promote this opportunity to potential Fellows. They can apply through December 14, 2018 at www.nathancummings.org.
