Other Programs Community grants are awarded at the initiative of the Foundation trustees and associates. Presidential and staff grants are initiated by staff. Applications for these grant categories are by invitation only. Community Grants The Foundation's community grants program permits trustees and members of the Cummings family to recommend grants to the board of trustees for consideration. Generally, these grants are for activities in the communities where family members and trustees live, and for programs in which they take an active interest of have an established connection. Community grants add an important element of flexibility and balance to the Foundation's grantmaking process, providing an avenue for the individual interests of trustees and family members. Through awarding community grants, family members assume the role of Foundation representatives in their local communities and learn more about grantmaking, which helps in their evaluation of core program grants and priorities. In addition to trustees and associates listed in this web site, the Foundation would like to thank Deborah Cummings, Michael Cummings, Jennifer Cummings, Patricia Cummings, Michelle Cummings, Diane Cummings Halle, Michael Zuieback and Sheila Zuieback for their past contributions to the community grants program. Presidential Grants and Staff GrantsThe president operates a modest grants program that allows him to make small, expeditious grants in support of the Foundation's mission. Non-program staff also has the authority to award a number of small grants. Links to September 11th Grants |
